The 15-year-old client was alleged to have stabbed a 14-year-old boy in East London which resulted in our client facing allegations of attempted murder, section 18 GBH, violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.
The case was complex as it involved a substantial amount of evidence to consider with a vulnerable client as well as obtaining expert evidence, which included an injury expert, psychological evidence and an intermediary application which was granted for the whole trial to support our young client’s participation in the proceedings. The young client entered a guilty plea to possession of a bladed article and section 18 GBH earlier in the proceedings, but the Prosecution continued to trial on the attempted murder count. The client gave evidence and the Jury found him not guilty of attempted murder. The client was sentenced to 5.5 years’ detention under s.250 of the Sentencing Act 2020 in respect of the s.18 GBH offence. No separate penalty was imposed on the two lesser offences. The Judge did not make a finding of dangerousness.
